Our program offers a 30-hour class course and a 6-hour, behind-the-wheel course training. Every aspect of the education provided by the CIESC Driver Education program is in compliance with the guidelines and standards defined by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Program Goals
A major objective of the CIESC Driver Education program is to provide high-quality driver education and traffic safety programs to the largest number of Indiana students. Our cost-effective program helps students develop defensive driving skills and behavioral patterns to maximize driver and passenger safety throughout the state of Indiana.

General FAQs
How old must you be to enroll in your driver education?
The program is open to all students between the ages of 15 and 21 years of age. You must have reached your 15th birthday to start the classroom portion.
How much does your program cost?
The registration fee is $380 per student and is due at the time of registration. This fee includes the class portion and 6 hours of in-car instruction. There is a discount applied when enrolling sibling groups. Please contact the office for more information (price increase effective July 1, 2022).
Can anyone enroll in your program?
CIESC Driver Education occasionally offers traditional (in-person) courses. Enrollment in any particular school is not required. If a traditional course is not offered near you, you may take the online course. Please view the online or behind-the-wheel course pages for more information.
How much instruction time does each student receive?
Students receive 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, which meets all state requirements.
I've completed the online class through another online provider, can I schedule in-car instruction only?
Yes. You must provide CIESC with the completion certificate from the online provider before or after registration. Please view the In-Car Instruction page for more information.
When do I apply for a learner permit?
A learner’s permit is not required before the start of class. Driver Education recommends that students obtain the learner permit after completion of the classroom portion. All students are required to take the written knowledge test at the BMV. This course will help them prepare for that test.
What documentation do I need to receive the permit?
The license branch will ask for the Certification of Driver Education Enrollment form. This form will be emailed AFTER successful completion of the online/traditional class.
Your student will also need to present an original birth certificate, original social security card, school report card, as well as proof of residency. A parent may have to provide their valid driver’s license, original birth certificate or passport, and 2 proofs of residency. Please visit the BMV website for more information.

When is the road test given?
After completion of the classroom phase and the in-car lessons, students may request and pay for the road skills test by logging into their account. The test may be requested anytime after reaching 15 years and 6 months. The fee for the road test is $40. Driver Education will not administer the road test if you registered for the online class only, the traditional class only, or in-car instruction only.
After completing your program, when is my child eligible to receive a probationary license?
Assuming the student completed both class and in-car instruction with CIESC, each student must be at least 16 years and 90 days and hold their learner’s permit for 180 days before applying for the probationary license at the BMV (without driver education, age of 16 years and 270 days is required).
I have not started the program since enrollment. Can I start now?
Students will be withdrawn from the program and all fees paid will be forfeited two (2) years after initial payment/enrollment. If you would like to begin or continue with the program you must reenroll and pay the current enrollment fees.

What is your privacy policy?
The driver education program adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Along with parents and students who have reached the age of 18, the following people may access student records and information, school officials with legitimate educational interests, organizations conducting certain studies on behalf of the school, or specified officials for audit or evaluation purposes. CIESC Driver Education uses secure technology to protect any personal information provided to us, however, we cannot guarantee that your submissions to our website or any transmissions from our server will be completely secure.
Your information (ex. name, address, email addresses) is not collected for any purposes other than direct communication with CIESC Driver Education. This information is not sold or provided for marketing purposes.
